China–Australia Capacity Update – New Carrier Services 

​Maersk is introducing the new Qilin service, adding over 1,000 FFE weekly capacity from China and operating alongside the Dragon service. The rotation will run Shanghai–Sydney–Melbourne, offering a fast 14-day transit to Sydney, though no Brisbane calls are planned. The service is expected to compete with A3C. 

Separately, A3 carriers (COSCO, OOCL, ANL) are planning a potential July launch from Nansha via Hong Kong to Sydney and Melbourne, pending final confirmation.

US–Iran Peace Deal Declared, but Key Uncertainties Remain

US President Donald Trump has declared a US–Iran peace deal “all signed”, with the Strait of Hormuz expected to reopen imminently. Announced during the G7 summit, the agreement aims to lift naval blockades, curb Iran’s nuclear ambitions and stabilise global markets. However, key details remain unresolved, including potential transit fees and enforcement of ceasefire conditions, particularly amid ongoing Israeli strikes in Lebanon. While some shipping movements have resumed, leaders caution the deal is fragile, with further negotiations and strong compliance measures needed to ensure lasting stability and restore confidence in the region. Middle East Service Advisory Continues

Due to the evolving situation in the Middle East, some ocean carriers are periodically invoking force majeure, which may impact routing, schedules and service delivery. This may include port omissions, cargo redirection via transshipment hubs, and potential surcharges or adjustments with limited notice. Transit times may also be affected.

Asian Holidays for Dragon Boat Festival – Shipping Advisory (China)

Dragon Boat Festival will be observed from 19–21 June across China and parts of Asia. During this period, many factories, warehouses, and transport providers will operate on reduced schedules or temporarily close, which may impact production timelines, cargo availability, and transit planning.

If you have upcoming shipments, please reach out to our team—we’re here to support planning and ensure continuity. 

To minimise disruption, we recommend arranging shipments in advance and confirming bookings as early as possible.

USA New Importation Rules

180-Day Countdown Begins New U.S. customs enforcement measures—signed 3 June 2026—will roll out within 180 days, tightening importer obligations. Expect higher bond requirements, stricter Importer of Record (IOR) criteria, enhanced disclosure and vetting, and increased scrutiny on valuation and tariff compliance. Foreign IORs face additional requirements, while only U.S. entities may lodge informal entries. A “good standing” registry and stronger penalties may also impact clearance timelines for non-compliant or underprepared importers. Fact Sheet: President Donald J. Global Port Performance Benchmark Released

The World Bank and S&P Global have published the latest Container Port Performance Index (CPPI), providing a global comparison of port efficiency based on vessel turnaround times. The report highlights ongoing variability in port performance amid supply chain disruptions, with Asian and Middle East hubs continuing to lead overall efficiency. Data is reviewed from 2025 activities and below is a snapshot of the findings:

The International Cargo Express Team has hit the pavement and brought the energy 🎉 Big weekend recently for our ICE staff in BNE —5km fun, plenty of laughs, and one HUGE 42km finish 💪 at the Eva Air Brisbane Marathon held 07JUN2026. 

A huge congratulations to Nickolas Tumai, our QLD Global Freight Consultant, for smashing his first marathon 🥇.
